    For the first time in history, the U.S. Senior Open will be contested on a university campus at Notre Dame’s Warren Golf Course. Conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA), this is the most prestigious contest for golfer’s age 50 and over. Experience what goes into marketing a national championship that is years in the making for our region.

    Hear from Steve W. Nieman, Championship Director, 2019 U. S. Senior Open.

    Steve arrived at Notre Dame in August 2016 to serve as championship director for the 2019 U.S. Senior Open Championship.  Before arriving in South Bend, Steve served as the tournament director for the PGA TOUR Champions event in Biloxi for eight years.  He has a wealth of experience in the sponsorship and the television rights arena through his negotiations with CBS, ESPN and The Golf Channel.  Steve earned a business degree in Communications and Public Relations from Drury University in Springfield, MO.

    Working in professional golf since 1995, Steve’s management stops include the PGA TOUR’s Puerto Rico Open, the PGA TOUR Champions Cap Cana Championship in the Dominican Republic and two separate LPGA Tour events in Sacramento, California and Nashville, Tennessee.
